Environmental factors and breast cancer science review

Komen for the Cure wanted to understand the relationship between environmental factors and breast cancer, and where additional research or improved research methods are needed.

We commissioned and funded a comprehensive state-of-the-science review of scientific research on environmental factors that may increase breast cancer risk. The review was led by the Silent Spring Institute, who along with other researchers created a unique, searchable online database. This database features detailed information on over 200 chemicals that cause breast cancer in animals. Learn more about the study / access the Silent Spring findings and free online database
