After Treatment : Living with Breast Cancer

There are more than two million breast cancer survivors in the United States today. While it’s tragic that so many people have been affected by the disease, the sheer number of survivors also shows the great strides that have been made in the detection and treatment of breast cancer. Today, most breast cancer survivors will lead fulfilling lives, even as they carry with them the experience of being treated for a very serious illness. This section of About Breast Cancer offers suggestions on how survivors can manage their unique situations and improve their quality of life after treatment. Steps that survivors can take to improve their chances for survival, the most important of which are to seek regular medical care and continue recommended screening after treatment, are also covered.
