Kate Sommer - Nebraska Valley Affiliate

Kate Sommer is a two-time breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed when she was 30 years old. Shortly before her recurrence 5 years later, a friend asked her if she had ever heard of the Race for the Cure.

North Texas Affiliate - 4/2/2008
The North Texas Affiliate held its 4th Annual Survivor Brunch and Fashion Show on Saturday, March 29, 2008, with over 300 survivors and their supporters in attendance. The event, sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent, celebrates breast cancer survivors and honors their fight against this deadly disease.

Minnesota Affiliate - 2/14/2008
Since our inception, we have been blessed to be embraced by a community that shares our commitment to raising money for breast cancer education, screening, preliminary treatment and research. Each year we increase our investment in our community's fight against breast cancer.

Florida Suncoast Affiliate - 1/18/2008
Founded in 1999 by Dr. Barbara (Hall) Bourland, the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has expanded to a six county area and has raised over $8 million for community programs and research. In just the last three years, the Affiliate has doubled in revenue, and in 2007 was proud to announce the largest grant awards in the history of the Affiliate.

Tulsa Affiliate - 12/5/2007
The Tulsa Affiliate started in 1996 with a group of volunteers who wanted to localize the fight against breast cancer and bring the Race for the Cure to their city.

Sacramento Valley Affiliate - 11/19/2007
The Komen Sacramento Valley Affiliate serves a 17-county wide area including both urban areas and a wide rural population.

El Paso Affiliate - 11/7/2007
Since our inception, the El Paso Affiliate has raised more than $2.2 million dollars to provide breast cancer education, screening and treatment resources. This year alone, we will provide over $363,000 to the El Paso Community in the fight against breast cancer.

North Jersey Affiliate - 10/24/2007
Like Komen for the Cure itself, the North Jersey Affiliate was also founded on a promise - a promise made in 1997 by Deb Belfatto to make a difference to ten-year-old Jackie Bertolini, who lost her mother to breast cancer.

North Florida Affiliate - 10/11/2007
The most "northern" of the six Florida Komen Affiliates, Komen North Florida covers Duval, Clay, Nassau, St. John's and Baker counties on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

Upstate South Carolina Affiliate - 8/3/2007
Thanks to the advocacy efforts of the Upstate South Carolina Affiliate, over 1,000 low-income, uninsured women have received free treatment for breast and cervical cancer since July 1, 2005 through a new state program.

Tarrant County Affiliate - 5/9/2007
At our 2007 Race, the band played "Let it snow" in observance of the first snowfall on a Tarrant County Race and the first area snowfall on April 7 in 69 years, but the record that really counts is the $1.5 million raised.

Greater Kansas City Affiliate - 4/19/2007

Houston Affiliate - 10/16/2006
The Houston Affiliate began in 1990, the same year as the first Komen Houston Race for the Cure®. Gayle McMorrow called the Komen Foundation to inquire about starting a Race in Houston, and with the Foundation's encouragement, she established a Board of Directors for the Affiliate.

Charlotte Affiliate - 9/5/2006
Like Susan G. Komen for the Cure itself, the Komen Charlotte Affiliate was founded on a promise. When Founder, Penelope Wilson, lost her partner to breast cancer in 1992, Penelope made a promise to make a difference.
