Washington DC
Breast cancer advocates rally to
"Close the Gap" on Capitol Hill
What a way to start! The Komen Community Challenge kicked into gear on April 26, 2007 with an amazing Washington D.C. Komen Community Challenge rally!
Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and the Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Representative Carolyn Kilpatrick, rallied the crowd. They were joined by leading health care providers and breast cancer activists from the Washington D.C. area. Our cry was heard loud and clear on the Hill: “Close the Gap!” to ensure life-saving breast cancer information, early detection screening, and cancer care are available for everyone.
The media paid attention, too! The Komen Community Challenge received local and national coverage, with stories running in the Washington Times, the Associated Press, Agence France-Press, and Belo, and on National Public Radio, Fox, CBS, NBC, and more.
Thanks for helping us get the Komen Community Challenge off to a roaring start, and thanks for all you do to support our mission of ending breast cancer forever.
