Don King Productions

Bring on the Titans - Trinidad vs. Jones, Saturday, January 19

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to be the beneficiary of Don King Productions from a minimum guaranteed donation of $100,000 to be made in conjunction with the January 19, 2008 boxing match between Felix “Tito” Trinidad and Roy Jones Jr. at Madison Square Garden.

In keeping with the promise of empowering people and ensuring quality care for all, this partnership helps further our reach to underserved communities and individuals nationwide.

“Being a part of this event is a way for Komen to step out and engage an entirely new audience we would probably not be able to reach otherwise,” said Hala Moddelmog, president and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “Breast cancer impacts everyone—spouses, children and friends, and we want to reach them in a meaningful way where they live, work and play. Of course, the fight against breast cancer transcends beyond the ring and we need everyone, everywhere engaged in our movement to end this disease once and for all.”

This unique opportunity expands Komen’s commitment to reaching populations that desperately need the lifesaving message of early detection and allows Komen to continue the efforts to “Close the Gap”.

“Roy Jones and I are donating money from our purses to help fight breast cancer and that is a good thing,” said Trinidad, “Everyone wants to strike a blow against breast cancer.”

Felix “Tito” Trinidad and Roy Jones Jr. commit to carrying Komen’s life-saving message to women and men battling the disease throughout the world.

“The people have not been getting all they can get” says Roy Jones Jr., “the women that have to get up everyday to fight breast cancer?  I want to know that they have a chance to win.  They have something that they can’t even see.  I am going to go out and fight to give them another reason to fight”.

In addition, Don King has announced a fight-night package auction on eBay that includes two ringside tickets and the winning boxer’s gloves.

If you can’t make the fight, you can still make a donation to help strike a blow against breast cancer.  The event is being produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View.
