LIFE Event-The Val Skinner Foundation
Susan G. Komen for the Cure benefits annually from the LIFE Event (LPGA Pros In the Fight to Eradicate Breast Cancer) that is held each year. This event was founded by Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Touring Professional Val Skinner, who has been dedicated to the fight against breast cancer since 1993, when close friend and fellow LPGA Touring Professional Heather Farr lost her battle to this disease at the age of 28.
The LIFE Event is a premier golf event supporting the fight against breast cancer. In six years, the LIFE Event has raised $3.5 million, with $1.75 million benefiting Komen for the Cure. The mission of the LIFE Event is to raise funds to reach a younger generation of women with information about early detection and the importance of healthy breast care practices. For more information about the LIFE Event visit www.valskinnerfoundation.org or call 1.866.882 LIFE.
With the support of the Val Skinner Foundation, in 2004 Susan G. Komen for the Cure launched On the Way to the Cure – Komen on the Go(TM), a 25+ stop educational college tour designed to engage young women in the fight against breast cancer. The goal of the tour is to engage all generations in the fight against breast cancer by encouraging them to learn more about breast health and breast cancer and to make a commitment to practical, everyday health habits that could save their lives.
